Cabinet Finishes
DuraSupreme keeps eye on colors trends in the kitchen.
Cabinetry is a fashion industry and popular colors and color combinations are evolving constantly. Because cabinetry is a long term investment, Dura Supreme’s cabinetry color palette does not follow trendy “in today, out tomorrow” color fads, but looks to include more timeless renditions of popular color directions.
Dura Supreme’s new finish colors include several different directions. Several rich, medium-tone colors were introduced for Cherry and Maple wood species. And a new hand-detailed collection of finishes, “Patina” finishes, are available for a variety of wood species. The most notable changes to the color palette include several gray tones added to the paint collection.
“Patina” is a collection of stain/glaze cabinet finishes that are hand-detailed to create an antiqued appearance with beautiful dimension and depth. Before the cabinet finish is applied, corners and edges are softened and the surface of the wood is “distressed” to create a look of aged and time-worn character. Glaze is then applied to accentuate the carved details of the cabinet door. Outside corners and edges are then "air-brushed" to create a one-of-a-kind “Patina”. For Heavy Patina finishes, we create additional rustic character by heavily distressing the wood and the finish with chisel marks, joint cracks, rasp marks, bird-peck, spatter and dry-brush. Patina finishes are an especially artistic cabinet finish and will have unique variations with each rendering.
“The global color palette has been drifting toward the gray hues for some time now,” explained Karen Wistrom, ASID, Vice President of Marketing for Dura Supreme cabinetry and a member of the international Color Marketing Group (CMG). “Blues and greens have become more subdued and instead of showcasing their vivid hues, they have become more of a subtle blue-gray or green-gray. The wise investor is careful to select colors that are up-to-date and yet will be timeless classics in the years ahead. Gray has become that timeless classic.”
For their painted finishes, Dura Supreme added three gray tones, a light “Mineral” gray, a medium “Cobblestone” gray, and a dark “Graphite” gray. A gray-green paint called “Tea Green” was also added and has become a popular selection.
Our Paint finishes start with a thorough sanding process and joints are filled to create a smooth surface. A primer coat is sprayed on to prepare the surface for a coat of our opaque enamel topcoat.
Painted cabinet finishes have gained popularity in recent years for their crisp, classic styling and expansive color palette. Some homeowners select paint for their entire kitchen, while others choose it as an accent color for an island or a cook center. Various shades of white and neutral colors are popular for full kitchens, while intense colors tend to be selected for accent pieces. Our full-coverage enamel paints are smooth and durable, with rich, saturated color. Dura Supreme offers an attractive palette of fashionable and classic colors, and custom colors are available to match any preference.
Dura Supreme has been crafting beautiful kitchen cabinetry for over 50 years! Our reputation for excellence in craftsmanship and quality, and our beautiful, luxurious finishes are appreciated by homeowners across the USA. That kind of experience translates into the quality that has made Dura Supreme a well-known name for beautiful kitchen cabinetry.
